Regrets

Who says we should not have regrets?
They are sobering reminders
of what we said we were going to be
but never become,
of all the things we wanted to do
but never found time to,
of all we should have said
but our throats got dry
and never found the voice.

The sadness and solitude
knowing all that time has gone
is the price we pay
for not finding the courage
to be true.
